About

An Engineer, Turned Entrepreneur, Turned EOS® Implementer

Michael Grand, P.Eng. is a Professional Engineer, trained and graduated from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
After graduating in 2002 with a degree in Civil Engineering, Michael spent a decade in the Alberta oilsands, managing large-scale industrial projects in a boots-on-the-ground capacity for major civil contractors.
In 2012, Michael took his entrepreneurial leap, completing a leveraged buyout of an oil and gas services company, Norpoint Sandblasting & Painting Ltd. As the realities of owning and running a business set in, Michael recognized the need for support and joined the Entrepreneurs' Organization (EO) in 2013.
In 2016, he met Gino Wickman and was introduced to the Entrepreneurial Operating System® (EOS®), which he soon implemented in his own business.

Professional EOS Implementer®

After successfully running EOS in two of his companies, Michael became a Professional EOS Implementer® in 2023. He discovered a true passion and talent for facilitating EOS® sessions, moderating forums, and leading leaders. Michael has held several leadership roles within EOS®, including Forum Moderator, Learning Chair, Forum Chair, Finance Chair, and Chapter President.
Michael’s unique ability lies in blending tactics and toughness—applying his engineering mind to process and systemize business operations, while strengthening his mental resilience through over a decade of studying business strategy, entrepreneurial mindset, and classical philosophy.
Today, Michael is focused on helping entrepreneurs and their leadership teams get more of what they want from their businesses by implementing EOS® – The Entrepreneurial Operating System. Michael also facilitates forum and leadership team retreats (both full and half day), and moderates CEO peer groups through MacKay CEO Forums.

Personal core values

Be Humbly Confident

I know my stuff. I’m confident in the value I bring while leaving arrogance behind. There is always more to learn, and everyone has a lesson to teach. I take a curious approach with an open mind.

Leave it better than you found it.

I strive to add value to any situation or relationship I encounter; leaving a lasting impression on the people I meet.

Embrace the suck

Amor Fati – I not only bear what is necessary, I love it.

Comfort is my enemy

I embrace discomfort, because it accompanies growth. I boldly do what needs to be done and exemplify calculated courage in all that I do.

Help First

I add value first, before asking for anything in return. I believe that you will get what you want out of life if you help enough people get what they want out of theirs.

The Precious Present

I understand that the present is the only thing that is real. I avoid focusing on my conditioned past, or in the dream of my potential future. The present is where life happens. Every moment is precious and I will be present for them all.

Personal hobbies

When I’m outside, you’ll usually find me biking, hiking, skiing, or camping—anything that gets me moving and into nature.

Indoors, I’m into weight training, yoga, chess, and reading.
